Osios Lucas Byzantine Monastery, Arachova, Delphi, Kalambaka, Meteora

The first day of the 2-day private tour begins in the morning. Your driver will take you through the villages of Thebes and Levadia to one of the most famous Monasteries of Ossios Lucas, built in the 11th century and known for its Byzantine architecture and golden mosaics.

Following a brief stop at the monastery, the private tour will proceed to Arachova, one of Greece's most famous and popular winter destinations. Arachova is a charming mountain village on the south slopes of Mt Parnassus. It is well-known for its bright multicolored carpets and a variety of local products such as fresh pasta, cheese, and sweets.

The Oracle of Delphi is a well-known sanctuary with an Apollo-honoring PanHellenic figure. It was regarded as the center of the world and used as an oracle. Delphi is now a representation of the unity of Greek culture. The picturesque setting gives you a tranquil view of the Greek mountains as well as two additional interesting sites, the Gymnasium and the secondary Athena Pronea sanctuary. Delphi was the most well-known ancient Greek sanctuary with a Pan Hellenic persona dedicated to the God Apollo and was known as the "center of the world." While there, you can tour the stadium, the theater, and the temple of Apollo, where Pytheia consulted the oracles.

Located in the southern part of Greece's main island, Delphi is a town on Mount Parnassus. The temple of Apollo, which once housed a fabled oracle, was situated there in the fourth century B.C. You will be able to see the stunning olive tree-covered mountains while strolling through the village's small, country streets and shops on the main street.

After that, we'll continue driving through the mountains and off the main road to see the genuine Greek countryside. By-passing Lamia, Trikala, and Karditsa, we will arrive in Kalambaka, a charming little town that is dominated by the Meteora. After settling into your hotel, you'll have time to go for a stroll in the evening and eat dinner in the area.

We'll go to monasteries and get a closer look at the holy rocks. One of the largest and most important complexes of Eastern Orthodox Monasteries, still in use, is located on the rocks that appear to be suspended in the air (this is what Meteora means). Meteora combines natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it a one-of-a-kind destination among the world's monuments. Great Meteoro is the largest and most impressive, as its name suggests.

The Holy Monastery of Rousanou was founded in 1529 by the monks Ioasaf and Maximos, who came from Ioannina, on the ruins of older buildings. The monastery of Rousanou is an impressive four-story complex that took shape in the third decade of the sixteenth century. The Church of the Transfiguration was rebuilt from the ground up from an extinct and destroyed by the ravages and neglect of time Old Catholic monastery in 1530 AD.

Then we'll take the road to Thermopylae. King Leonidas and his 300 brave Spartans heroically faced the Persian army here ten years after the Battle of Marathon. An educational 3D movie will be shown in the historical center.

This modest monument honors the conflict from 480 B.C., when a small group of roughly Spartan soldiers successfully repelled a sizable Persian army for three days.

You will sense the presence of heroes who defended their independence from a foreign conqueror as if you were traveling through time. You will visit the statue of Leonidas, which is directly across from Kolonos Hill, where the tenacious Spartans breathed their last, to conclude.

One of the few female monasteries in Meteora is the Holy Monastery of Agios Stefanos. Although the monastery's exact construction date is unknown, some evidence suggests that it was built in the 15th century. In 1560, the stunning wall paintings of the Catholicon were completed.

On the way back to Athens, we'll stop in Kammena Vourla, a coastal community, where we'll have a leisurely, authentic Greek lunch by the water. We will then safely drive back to Athens to conclude the tour.

After having lunch in a seaside town, we will travel back to Athens.
