Vestmannaeyjar, Westman Islands are a cluster of islands that can only be described as a wonder of nature, just a few decades ago there was a volcanic eruption on the main island and a part of the town was buried under the lava.
There is no way to describe the power of nature when it hits a small town like this but the towns people fought the volcano and won (or at least a little bit as they were able to save a part of the town and harbor).
A day tour to this place is a must as it is truly amazing to see the landscape and how the people have rebuilt the town and their lives around this volcano site.
In the summer the island is of course one of the best spots to see the puffins and get close to them and the Beluga Whale Sanctuary is another great way to get close to the wildlife surrounding Iceland.
We will start early from the city as we need to catch the ferry from Landeyjahöfn to reach the main island Heimaey, we do have the option or visiting the Eldheimar Museum for some inside information from the locals about the devastating eruption or hiking up to the top of the volacno.
We will stop for lunch in a local restaurant where you can get some traditional Icelandic dishes made in a modern way!
Jump aboard and we will take you on an epic adventure around the islands.
