Having traveled the world extensively and having experienced various cultures, the founders of XplorPal, Joseph and Mani came together and developed the XplorPal platform to enable travelers to experience the amazing cultures, history and cuisine of countries around the world while helping the local people there.

XplorPal started when Joseph was looking for ways to help Sri Lanka, his country where he was born, recover from the devastating civil war in which more than 150,000 died, 65,000 remain missing and millions were uprooted from their homes. Joseph left Sri Lanka when he was a teenager but always wanted to go back home. After 30 years of war, he recently went back to Sri Lanka to realize that all the infrastructure in the northern part of the country has been destroyed, there is no economy to speak of there are over 90,000 war widows that need help. Joseph felt that tourism could help revive the economy by employing the local people who desperately need jobs. Thus, XplorPal was born.

Today with XplorPal, you can explore the world's coolest experiences by connecting with local tour guides (we call them pals!) who have unique knowledge and experience of their own region and culture. You can choose from a wide variety of experiences. Whether you are trekking to the Machu Picchu in Peru, taking in the breathtaking Himalayas in Tibet, riding elephants in Thailand, observing Gorilla’s in the wild in Uganda or relaxing on a serene beach in Sri Lanka, one thing you can be sure of is that you are contributing to a good cause.

We also donate part of our income to local charities in these countries. These charities help in educating children, alleviating poverty and supporting water conservation and women’s health.
