Your adventure will begin with a 125-mile 4x4 drive into El Rey National Park. We will drive along the Popayan Trail (45 minutes), a road through the part that can only be navigated by 4x4 ue to the many stream and river crossings. Then, we will stop to enjoy the views of the Popayan and La Sala Rivers, keeping your eyes peeled for breams, catfish, gold fish, and shads that live within the waters.
We will return to the trail head, where you'll sit down for a box lunch (own expense) surrounded by the beauty of the national park. After lunch, you will head north into the mountain jungle, where you might spot one of the park's resident river otters. As you climb to higher elevations, you will notice how the vegetation begins to change, as varieties of flora that can only be found at high elevation, like cedars and laurels, begin to take over. You will spend some time exploring the jungle habitat where wild pumas, tapir, wild pigs, and several species of birds roam.
