We’ll head out from Killarney and make our way to the breath-taking Old Head of Kinsale, where the rugged cliffs meet the wild Atlantic. This spot is steeped in history, with the Old Head Lighthouse standing tall, guiding ships for centuries. It’s also where the Lusitania tragically sank in 1915, just off the coast, a moment that changed the course of history. You’ll find a Signal Tower here, part of an old network built when Ireland was on high alert for a Napoleonic invasion. The tower now holds the Lusitania Museum, where you can dive into the tales of that fateful ship.
Then, it’s on to the picturesque town of Kinsale, with its colorful houses, lively harbor, and reputation as a haven for food lovers. Take a wander along the bay, watch the boats bobbing in the water, and maybe treat yourself to some local delicacies. We’ll wrap up the day in Cork City, where the past and present dance together in a city full of character.
