Visit to the enchanted village in Scurati near Custonaci, an ancient prehistoric settlement, today a speleological geo-site. Transformed from prehistoric shelter into a micro-village in the nineteenth century by the Mangiapane family, who lived there until the early 50s, building small houses and commercial activities of the time, today it is the natural home of the nativity scene and the living museum. As in a journey back in time, walking through this village frozen in time and looking at doors and windows you can see the everyday life of all trades: cobbler, tailor, puppet, ..... and all farm animals. We leave this place, to discover the marble heart of these mountains. Also called Botticino di Sicilia, this marble is appreciated and requested in the whole world. Its success is due to its particular impact resistance, its beautiful color characterized by a light ivory background with white spots of calcite and veins on brown. The marble basin of Custonaci is considered the second most important in Italy. The ingenuity and perseverance in transforming this hard stone into useful objects, in common use and in fundamental parts of our buildings, "from utility to art" are exhibited in the marble museum in the city of Custonaci, which we will visit as our last tour stop. To welcome us a man who has dedicated his life to the processing of marble in all its forms, and who tries to pass on a profession handed down to him for generations.
