This tour will serve different activities based on 2 different seasons: high water season and low water season. Hereunder is the detail program for each season.
High water season, August to January:
At the departure time, you will be greeted and picked up at your hotel’s lobby in Luang Prabang by a local tour guide and a driver. You are then transferred to the Tiger Adventure Camp located on the banks of Nam Khan River. It may take you about 25 minutes. At the Camp, you will be given safety briefing about basic kayaking skills to make sure you can enjoy the journey safely.
Then, you start kayaking down the Nam Khan River. The river conditions may vary widely in different seasons. During the high water season, the river currents are very rough, so the journey will be more exciting to experienced drivers. During the journey, you will paddle through beautiful lush jungle, rice fields and local villages. In addition, you will go by the elephant camps and may catch a glimpse of lovely elephants splashing on the river banks. Don’t forget to keep your camera handy to capture these stunning images of nature.
This kayaking journey is about 20 km (12 mi) with the level of easy-medium and takes you approximately 3-4 hours with breaks. The journey ends under the Luang Prabang city cambrige. Then, you will be driven back to your hotel. The tour ends.
Low water season, February to July:
During the dry season, the river’s water level is significantly lower. Thus, the white sand beaches are exposed. Along the way, you will stop for photo shooting opportunity or enjoy river-jumping from trees. In addition, you will visit Henri Mahout’s resting place located in the jungle. He has been widely known as the explorer of the spiritual complex of Angko Wat. Then, you will stop by a local’s favorite sport, Geng Noun before driving back to the city.
The kayaking journey is about 11 km (7 mi) with easy level and takes you about 3 hours with break.
