At 9.30am, your guide will meet you outside Exit B1 Yuexiu Park station on metro line 2 in Guangzhou, then start the day tour. You will visit the Museum of the Tomb of the Nanyue King of the Western Han Period, where you will learn the history of Guangzhou back to 2,200 years ago.
Afterwards, you will climb up Yuexiu Park to view the token of the city, 5 Rams Sculpture that was erected in Yuexiu park in 1959 to describe the legend. You will also view a section of the Old City Wall of Guangzhou in the park, which was built in Ming Dynasty about 600 years ago.
Then, you will move to Academy of Clan Chen, or The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, which is an academic temple built in 1894 during later Qing Dynasty. Academy of Chen Clan is a complex with traditional Canton architecture style. Now it is a folk art museum to display wooden carving, stone carving, brick carving, pottery, plaster and iron engraving etc. which are nice to view with your local guide.
Later, you will take metro to Shamian Island and wander around the former colony for British and French for 100 years ago, where there are well-preserved old European architectural houses, and you can see local people taking wedding pictures here.
Afterwards you will take a boat on the Pearl River to view the buildings beside the river. Then you will move to Canton Tower. The impressive Canton tower is 600 meters in height, and if you are interested, you could buy a ticket to overlook the city at your own expense.
Your lunch is included for the delicious Cantonese Dim Sum. Your wonderful day tour concludes at the Canton tower where you can take taxi or metro back to your hotel by yout own.
Note: Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King closes on Mondays, Academy of Clan Chen closes on Tuesday, we will arrange visit YongQingFang instead of when it is closed.
