Our guide will pick you up at your hotel around 08:00 – 08:30 and proceed to the magnificent Angkor Complex - the largest religious building in the world, represents Mount Meru. In Hindu mythology this was the home of the gods and the kings of Angkor were gods. Angkor is a vast and mysterious complex of soaring towers, mysterious faces, and exquisite sculptures.
Entering the complex through the South Gate of Angkor Thom and see the enigmatic carvings of Bayon Temple. The best of Bayon are the bas-reliefs on the exterior walls of the lower level and on the upper level where the stone faces reside. The giant stone faces of Bayon have become one of the most recognizable images connected to classic Khmer art and architecture.
Discover other sites in the complex such as the Elephant Terrace, and the Terrace of the Leper King.
We then take a break for lunch (at your own arrangement) before cotinueing our tour with Ta Prohm. Intentionally left partially unrestored, massive fig and silk-cotton trees grow from the towers and corridors offering a ‘jungle atmosphere’ and some of the best ‘tree-in-temple’ photo opportunities at Angkor.
Your next stop will be the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat. Few places anywhere on Earth match the splendor of Angkor Wat, a veritable lost city in the midst of the Cambodian jungle. It is visually, architecturally and artistically breathtaking. It is a massive three-tiered pyramid crowned by five lotus-like towers rising 65 meters from ground level. Angkor Wat is the centerpiece of any visit to the temples of Angkor.
We will be there during sunset, when the Angkor Wat shine brightest offer you an extraordinary view and photo oppotunity. Back to Siem Reap and the tour ends around 18:00 at your hotel.
