This full day tour takes you to some destinations. The time in each destination can be flexible as your request as long as it doesn’t the whole plan.
At the departure time, you will be greeted and picked up at your hotel’s lobby by an English speaking guide and a driver. Then, you will be driven to a base camp located outside of town. This is the starting point of your coming adventure where you can engage in the Lao wilderness: riding elephants, trekking and canoeing.
Once you arrive at the base camp, you will visit a local animal hospital where you start your adventure by feeding elephants. In addition, you will be welcomed by a veterinarian. He will deliver a short introduction about elephants and answer any question you have. You will be impressed at interesting information about elephants, a symbol of Laos which is commonly known as land of a Million Elephants (Lane Xang).
Then, you will continue the tour by taking the 1.5-hour trek. This journey will take you through teak forests and over the hills to reach the remote HuaySae Valley. Coming here, you will keep on trekking through the lush jungle until you reach am isolated waterfall. You will enjoy a refreshing swimming in the natural pool (this activity will be depend on the water level) and have a picnic lunch with sticky rice and Lao specialties such as lab mou (minced pork with spices and chili), aorlarm (stewed meat with spices), fried mixed vegetables and crispy fried fish.
After lunch and a short rest, you continue the trekking journey. You will hike alongside a spectacular HuaySae mountain stream. It may take you about 1.5 hour. Under the instruction of the experienced guide, you will follow a trail crossing bamboo bridges and passing picturesque waterfalls that peek from the lush jungle. At the end of the trail, you will experience riding horses of a Hmong hill tribe. You will be carried along a more demanding uphill section through forests and fields.
When you arrive at the shores of the Nam Khan River, you will get on a lovely bamboo raft to back to the base camp. You will have chance to relax and enjoy the beautiful view of traditional Lao village life along the riverbanks when cruising slowly downstream. It will take you about 1.5 hour to reach the base camp. Then, you will be transferred back to Luang Prabang. The tour ends.
