No visit to Cairo is complete without seeing the majesty of the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. you'll enjoy personalized attention on your tour of these famous symbols of Egypt's ancient civilization. In the Giza plateau area, the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx date back over 4600. the Pyramids of Giza are by far the most famous and are the last of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World. Your qualified Egyptologist guide will provide a fascinating introduction to each of the three pyramids: Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus. You will have free time to enter one of the pyramids (additional cost), although your guide is not permitted to enter with you. After visiting the pyramids, you'll then continue across the plateau for a photo opportunity of the three pyramids rising from the sands, with the Cairo skyline in the background. A short drive to the city side of the plateau finds you standing at the feet of the Sphinx, for thousands of years the enigmatic symbol of Egypt

There may be time OPT to visit the Temple of Isis at Philae (optional). There are many other sites to be seen around Aswan and your leader should be able to organize some excursions – perhaps a camel ride or a trip to the Unfinished Obelisk. In the evening, you will take a trip across the river to a Nubian village and enjoy dinner at one of the local houses. Fees are included if the option is chosen.

A great optional tour to Abu Simbel. The great site is located miles south of Aswan. Your guide will pick you up to drive 145 miles to Abu Simbel. There are two temples there; both were erected by the famous pharaoh Ramses II in 1240 B.C.The two temples were carved into the mountainside. This temple is called El Deir el Bahari as the early Christians used the Northern monastery, as it was a Coptic monastery. The final stop will be at the colossi of Memnon. The Colossi of Memnon are two monumental statues representing king Amenhotep III of the 18th Dynasty of Egypt. They are located west of the modern city of Luxor and face east looking toward the Nile River. The statues depict the seated king on a throne with some other carvings of his mother, his wife, the god Hapi, the Nile god, and other symbolic engravings. Both are carved from single blocks of sandstone and the name refers to the Greek hero Memnon who fell in the Trojan War.
