Day 1: Hanoi –Dong Khe town - Mat Than Mountain (Thung mountain) – Ban Gioc (Meal: L, D)
6:30 – 7:00: Pick up from the hotel in the Ha Noi Old Quarter.

7:15: Depart to Ban Gioc Waterfall – one of the four waterfalls located between 2 countries,
one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.
11:00: Arrive in Dong Khe town - It was the site of the First Indochina War.
12:45 -13:00 You will have lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, continue the journey to Mat Than Mountain (Thung Mountain, which is located
in Quang Uyen District). And then get back on the bus and keep journeying to the hotel near
Ban Gioc waterfall - Cao Bang province.
16:30: Check-in the hotel and relax.
18:30: Have dinner at the hotel.

During the Franco-Viet Minh War (1946-1954), Route 4C (Route 4A now) was an important French supply route for their strategically important outpost in Cao Bang. The French post at Dong Khe was vital to the flow of supply on Route 4C then and the Viet Minh was determined to remove this post in 1950 with the Border Campaign.

Mat Than Mountain is a spectacular and unique natural landscape in Cao Chuong commune, Trung Khanh district in the northern province of Cao Bang. The mountain is called Phja Piot in the language of the Tay ethnic minority people, meaning “a mountain with a hole”, as there is indeed a hole with a diameter of some 50 metres running right through the mountain about half-way up.

9:00: Come back to the bus to visit Nguom Ngao Cave (Tiger Cave).
9:50: The driver takes you back to the hotel, you will have "free time" to explore: the border
market, Ban Gioc Waterfall checkpoint (where the border line between Vietnam and China is located), Khoi Ky stone village, Ban Gioc pagoda, Quay Son suspension bridge...by motorbike, taxi or walking... (own expense).
Have lunch and dinner at local restaurant.
