We will leave at 09:00 am from our hotel in San Martin de los Andes to travel about 42 km towards our destination. Along the way, there will be a stop in the town of Junin de los Andes to tour the city, visiting the Church-monument to Laura Vicuña y Nuestra Sra. De las Nieves, a very important one due to its link with the Mapuche culture, which earned it recognition from the Vatican. Leaving Junín, a few kilometers later, we will have the first view of the lake Huechulafquen with the imposing Lanin Volcano on the back. We will walk along the beaches until we arrive to the nascent of the River Chimehuín, internationally known for trout fishing.
Then, we will get back up in our vehicles to travel to the entrance of the Lanin National Park. As we move into the park, we will begin to observe the ancient Araucaria forests, until we arrive to the quinchos that are hosted by the Cañicul Mapuche community. In these restaurants you will be able to taste some of the finest grilled meats and a variety of salads (lunch not included and optional). We will continue traveling by van to the milestone that gives its name to the National Park: the majestic Lanin Volcano and its glaciers of stunning beauty. Then, we will arrive at its southern base, which is closest to the volcano that we can get, as it is the point where the hikes to its summit begin.
We will continue our journey to reach Lake Paimún, where we will have the opportunity to visit another chapel and a very special because of its location and the symbology of different cultures that can be found in it. We will return to our hotel in San Martin de los Andes at approximately 07 pm.
