From the busy streets of Naples to the top of Italy’s most famous volcano, this full-day Vesuvius tour is a must when visiting the region. Vesuvius is known worldwide for its devastating eruption in 79 AD, which destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and still dominates the skyline.
Following a late morning retreat from a meeting point, you will depart for the 500-meter hike to the summit. Once at the top, follow the path around the imposing crater, enjoy spectacular views of the Gulf of Naples to the east and west and admire the depths of the dormant volcano.
Remember: Although Vesuvius is a dormant volcano, it is likely that plumes of smoke emerge from the crater. No need to worry though, it hasn’t erupted since the 1950s. Please be aware that you need a good level of fitness to do the climb and we recommend taking refreshments with you. There will be opportunities along the way to rest and recover before continuing to the summit.
