Our Vespa driver will pick you up at your hotel around 09:00 and head to the North, through tranquil countryside and Angkor forest to the West of Angkor. On the back of a Vespa, we then will pass by a shop selling colorful small house temples. Here our guide will explain why such temples are placed outside the locals’ houses and its meaning. Next, we stop at a small market for a short break.
After that, head to the the dike of Baraylake then take a short walk up to the embankment of the West Baray Lake. Keep following it until reaching a Chinese cemetery of the Wat Svai Romiet Pagoda. From here, you can enjoy the extraordinary views of the lake and our expert guide can explain to you the difference between the Khmer and the Gregorian calendar. Later, a special ceremony will be held at the main hall by a monk, where all will be blessed with good luck.
Next, we take a boat trip (wet season) or a scooter ride (dry season) to West Mebon temple, located on the island in the middle of Baray lake. The temple consists primarily of a single wall displaying some carvings in fair condition. The carvings exhibit some of the first examples of carvings of animals in natural, non-mythological scenes. An old fortune teller presents there frequently, if you’re lucky to meet him, you will have a chance to have your fortunes told.
Have a stunning lunch with a wide range of Khmer food and drinks at a picnic place. Have some time at your leisure before returning to your hotel. The trip ends around 15:00.
