Muangboran is an outdoor museum covering an enormous 96 hectares, or 240 acres. The creator has painstakingly built over 100 scaled models or replicas of ancient ruins, buildings, monuments and more from all over Thailand. The periods of these ancient ruins and monuments cover the Dvaravati, Srivichai, Lopburi, Lanna, Lan Chang, Sukhothai, U-tong, Ayutthaya, Thonburi and Rattanakosin eras.
The attention to detail and the accuracy shows that amount of effort that was put into reconstructing the structures. In many cases the originals were completely, or mostly, destroyed so reconstruction largely depended on historical records and research.
Muangboran is a cross section of Ancient Siam all in one location that can be covered in a day! You can go from magnificent Dusit Maha Prasat Palace in the Grand Palace, Bangkok to the ruins of the Main Chedi of Wat Maha That to the Ayutthaya's 17th century Sanphet Prasat Palace to ruins and palaces from the Hariphunchai Kingdom about 1000 years before it became Northern Thailand and so much more.
