At around 08:00 – 08:30, our guide will pick you up at your hotel lobby. We then head out of Siem Reap for a boat trip on the Tonle Sap Lake, which is the largest fresh water lake in all Southeast Asia, listed by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve in 1997. Its dimension changes depending on the monsoon and dry season.
The boat trip will take you to visit Kampong Khleang floating community - a large remote village, with its main industry focused on fishing in the lake. As we cruise through the village, our guide will explain to you what makes the lake so special and why it is so important to people here. Enjoy the wonderful scenery as you discover people’s life on the water. (Note: during Apr-Sep, the water level may be too low for a boat trip. However, the village is still worth visiting and can be reached by car. Quite interesting to see the stilted houses exposed out of the water)
After that, we will enjoy a packed lunch at one the the locals’ houses while watching life goes on in the village.
Afternoon, proceed to the quite Beng Mealea, a spectacular sight to behold. It is one of the most mysterious temples at Angkor. This spectacular jungle temple, remained undiscovered for centuries, will surely give you a great escape from crowded sites in Siem Reap. Back to your hotel and tour ends around 17:00.
