This half day tour takes you to some destinations. The time in each destination can be flexible as your request as long as it doesn’t affect the whole plan.
At the departure time, you will be greeted at your hotel’s lobby by an English speaking guide and a driver. Then, you will be driven to a mountain bike shop to pick up one for your journey. Necessary safety equipment will be prepared for you as well.
Your first destination is the local morning market. This lively market offers a wide range of products, ranging from colorful vegetables to animals like frogs. Coming here, you will not only observe the daily activities of the locals but also try some kinds of special food if you want.
Then, you continue cycling to the Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Museum which portrays the devastation that Laos has to suffer in consequence of the Second Indochina War. It was the headquarters of ordnance clearance operations.
(The Unexploded Ordnance Museum (UXO Museum) is open from Monday to Friday, 8.00 am – 12.00 pm; closed on Saturday and Sunday).
After exploring the museum, you cycle on the old communist bridge to cross the Nam Khan River to visit a local craft village which is famous for weaving, mulberry paper making, etc. You will enjoy strolling around this village to see and interact with the locals with the support of the guide. After that, you cycle on an upper road with a beautiful view over the city and swing down to an orphanage school where hundreds of neatly dressed children are given accommodation and opportunities to learn. At the orphanage school, you will pay a visit to a small gallery and vegetable garden cared by the children.
Following a morning full a lot of cycling, you will stop and enjoy a bow of tasty noodle for lunch. After that, you take a short rest and ride back to the city center. The tour ends at around 1.00 -2.00 pm, depending on your biking speed.
The cycling distance is approximately 16 km (10 mi) on mostly paved roads with some low hillds.
