You will go to the oldest district of Marseille... Le Panier, there you will settle down in the coolness to taste all the victuals.

The guide will show you in every detail the district, its monuments, the oldest in the city, its new national museum the MUCEM, its refurbished shopping galleries, its walk around the Fort St Jean, the beautiful arcades of the Vieille Charité... Then the peak of your walk, a wine tasting at the inhabitant's house in a pretty garden typical of Marseille.

You'll find all sorts of dishes on Rue Caisserie to delight your taste buds (madeleines, pastries, restaurants).

You'll discover the warmth of the locals and find out what made Marseille the capital of culture in 2013. You'll also feel the gentle breeze of the sea air, or the mistral as we know it here. From this fabulous vantage point, you'll have a direct view of the Palais du Pharo, a building whose construction was ordered by Napoleon III for Empress Eugénie.

You will take the time to appreciate the smells that emanate from all these small restaurants. At the bend in the street, you will surely hear other languages spoken, but it is the Marseilles accent that will not go unnoticed!

The Noailles district is colour, flavours, warm people and a multitude of different cultures all in one place. During the walk, the guide will tell you the history of this district as well as the culinary traditions of Marseille.

In the second part of the program you will discover the oldest district of France " le Panier ", which is located on the northern part of the Old Port of Marseille. You will discover the cultural richness that surrounds this unique place. At the bend of alleys, artists' studios and local products intermingle.

Do you know where Marseille pastis comes from? You will meet an artisan distiller who will show us the successive stages of his production of his best Pastis and Absinthes. You will also discover the N°1 starter of the Marseillais: "La Panisse", goat's cheeses, the different types of local bread, olive oil and its tapenades, anchoïades, sardinades. You will go into typical Marseilles shops ...

The guide will tell you a few stories and traditions in the form of anecdotes...

To finish this excursion, return to the metro on the quays of the Old Port. Enjoy your meal!
