At the end lunch in a typical restaurant we'll continue to the famous Herculaneum, the ancient Roman city which, according the legend, was founded by Hercules and which was buried with mud, cinder and lava during the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The assistant will give you the audioguides at the entrance of the excavations so you can have an intimate visit of approx 1h30min in history! Herculaneum, unlike Pompeii, was mainly covered by ash and mud, only partially by lava, so everything is better preserved than Pompeii: still houses have their doors and frescos in a very good status. This village was smaller than Pompeii and was mainly a residential area.
