Although it has no other temple sacred to his memory, Brahma seems to have taken full advantage of the only temple where prayers are offered to him. Not only did he perform a Yagya (ritual fire ceremony) here, but he also dropped a sacred lotus from his hands to create a lake where people take a bath before they offer prayers. There is a silver turtle at the temple entrance, which is considered a symbol of his transport.
Brahma temple is the best-known temple in Pushkar, but there are also four hundred other temples lining the banks of the lake.

Go head out early in the morning for a drive out to visit the Ranakpur Jain Temple. The sprawling temple complex comprises 1444 intricately carved pillars, 24 pillared halls accompanied by 80 domes which are borne by 400 columns. The apogee of this entire temple architecture is the fact that no two pillars in here are the same! Another exquisite aspect that has also earned the temple its name is the carving of the four-headed image of Adinath, sheltered by a 108-headed snake with numerous tails. The entire ceiling of this temple complex is bedecked with geometric designs and scrollwork.

Jagmandir is a palace built on an island on the Lake Pichola. Also called the ‘Lake Garden Palace’, the construction for this began in 1620 and was completed around 1652. The royal family used the palace as its summer resort and for hosting parties. Interestingly, Prince Khurram - later Emperor Shah Jahan - was given shelter here when he rebelled against his father Emperor Jahangir. The Palace had such an impact on Emperor Shah Jahan that it went on to become the inspiration for one of the most magnificent Wonders of the World, The Taj Mahal.
