Departure from Cusco to head north through the highway that takes us to the city of Abancay. We leave the city behind and go through Antapampa, with incredible views of the snow covered Salkantay and Humantay. As we move away from this area of high prairies, Pitusiray, Chicón and Verónica appear on the horizon. Once we start descending towards Limatambo, visit to the archaeological site of Tarawasi. Past the village of Curawasi, appreciate the Sayhuite monolith, it is believed to represent the Inca Empire. A small parallel path leads us to the small village of Cachora, where we will start today´s walk. Carrying our backpacks for the day, we´ll walk by the edge of the Capuliyoc mountain, from there we will see the Apurímac canyon for the first time and the road ahead.
